DOCUMENTARY DIRECTOR

Bold Talks

ROLES: VIDEO DIRECTOR, STORY WRITER, ART DIRECTOR

After years of inviting external keynote speakers on stage at our internal culture and growth conferences, we decided to turn the spotlight inward and feature our own people. We introduced the original Bold Talks in January of 2020 and they were designed for the stage as a series of deeply emotional and raw stories from leaders across the organization. These Bold Talks shined a light on the unifying idea that we are more alike than we are different.

PROBLEM

When the pandemic hit, we had to find a way to continue the wild success of our original on-stage Bold Talk productions in a digital environment. How could we design a virtual experience that connects individuals at our company to their peers on a deeper level beyond work, strengthen the ties that bind, and amplify our fierce culture of caring?

SOLUTION:
OneDigital Bold Talks, filmed as mini-documentaries.

We interviewed individuals to discover compelling stories about their personal journeys to happiness. Working for weeks to understand them and craft their story arc, and working with a video production agency, I directed a cinematic delivery of their narrative and then shared the short films at our biannual virtual culture and brand conference.

IMPACT

Initial audience reach of more than 2,000 viewers and hundreds of additional video views after the screening. Virtual conference attendee surveys show that the Bold Talks were the highest attended sessions and that the majority of attendees (above 50%) stated the Bold Talks were the most inspirational session they attended.

Watch a compilation of all Bold Talks below. Due to the very personal and sensitive nature of these Talks, we keep the individual films private.
